Mupoi Sisters elect first Mother Superior

The Missionary Sisters of the Blessed Virgin Mary known as Mupoi Sisters of Tombura-Yambio Catholic Diocese on Tuesday successfully elected their first Mother General in Kampala-Uganda.
 
Diocesan Chancellor Fr Joseph Migidi announced that the Mupoi Sisters elected Sister Antoinette Bakosoro as their first and Mother Superior who takes over their leadership from the Comboni Missionary Sisters, Anisa Radio reported.
 
He added that the election was witnessed by Bishop Barani Edwardo Hiiboro Kussala in a very peaceful way.
 
The Chancellor urged the entire Christian community to pray for the Mupoi Sisters as they are beginning a long journey to rule themselves for the first time.
 
A member of the Missionary Sisters of Blessed Virgin Mary in Yambio, Sister Agnes Alinaitwe Akiiki expressed her happiness to receive the good news from Uganda because she expected Sister Bakosoro to be in that position as their first leader.
 
She urged all parents to support those daughters who are willing to join their group.
 
The Missionary Sisters of Blessed Virgin Mary are now servicing in education, health and pastoral sectors in Tombura-Yambio, Khartoum, Juba and Uganda.
 
The late Emeritus Bishop Joseph Gasi Abangite founded the congregation of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Mupoi since 1980 under the leadership of Comboni Sisters who helped them to maturity.
