Western Equatoria State Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Public Utilities praised Yambio and Maridi business communities, non-governmental organisations operating in the state and companies for their contributions to repair Maridi-Rasulu trunk road.
Clement Juma Mbugoniwia said Rhino Construction Company already repaired three kilometres section of Maridi-Rasulu trunk road in a period of nine days.
He added that 60 heavy trucks which stuck on the way were pulled out paving way for movement of commodities to Yambio.
Mr Mbugoniwia said the emergency road repair filling up gulley spots with marrams may take one year due to usage by many heavy trucks.
He cited a six kilometres road section on Karika-Mundri road as next task to accomplish to avoid cut off accessing from Juba.
The Minister appealed to communities to continue with local collections to save the roads from worsening.
He urged the national government to allocate some budget for trunk roads maintenance in future budget.
He disclosed that his ministry had no road budget allocation for two years.
