The ministry in charge of children welfare is organizing the tomorrow’s celebration of African Child Day involving partners and children alike.

GoSS minister for Gender, Social Welfare and Religious Affairs, Agnes Kwaje, told the press that she was meeting today with MPs and NGOs to discuss how to enact the theme for the celebration: “Planning and budgeting for child welfare.”

Ms. Kwaje said her ministry engaged street children and ex-child soldiers in various activities in preparation for the celebrations.

Ms. Kwaje added that the theme challenged all sectors and stakeholders to come out with plans and budgets for the welfare of poor children.

The minister said the number of destitute children was on the rise in south Sudan calling for the attention of both domestic and international humanitarian institutions.
