Tonj South Parish Priest of Rumbek Diocese on Thursday condemned a local order issued by the Mayor for relocating Malith market behind Don Bosco Bongo Primary School for selling simsim, grass, bamboo, poles and fire wood.
Fr John Peter said the school and market cannot match because music and people noise from the market would disturb children, Don Bosco Radio reported.
He said the place is designated for building a new Church of Mary Help of Christians and a multipurpose hall.
Tonj South Mayor Marko Mabior said the relocation of Malith market was to make the area clean because it was used for dumping rubbish that could bring diseases to people.
He advised all the relocated traders to stop building shops behind the School, but return to their previous place until the Survey Commission relocates them.
