Several nurses training at Torit Civil Hospital have reportedly left the institution to join the armed forces because they offer better opportunities.

This revelation followed a recent report from health officials to the visiting Eastern Equatoria state minister of health Felix Makucha on challenges facing the Hospital.

An investigation by Radio Emmanuel revealed that a number of trainee nurses who complained they did not sit any examination after five years of study joined the Fire Brigade, Wildlife, Prisons and Police forces.

A staff from the hospital who asked not to be named said the trainees felt insecure about their professional future after the long period of training without taking any examination.

Lack of motivation and poor working environment at the Hospital also contributed to the trainees’ walk away.
