Central Equatoria Education ministry is working comprehensively to overhaul teachers’ promotions and assignments to pave a way to payment of dues.

State minister Hastin Yokwe ordered teachers to adjust payrolls to grade twelve as the minimum, Easter Radio reported.

He admitted ongoing irregularities in promotions demoralizing teachers, citing the example of a teacher of grade eight assigned the role of a headmaster while grades four and five officials teach in classes.

The minister said they are working out a policy to facilitate and encourage private schools because they play a very vital role in the education sector.

He appealed to state leaders to support, enhance and collaborate with private schools for effective and quality delivery of educational services.

Minister Yokwe described the current teachers as professionals with mission and nationalism.

He was speaking during the World Teachers’ Day celebration on Tuesday in Yei.
