St Mary’s Parish Priest in Tombura-Yambio Catholic Diocese who oversees the renovation of the Chapel and construction of Bishop Joseph Gasi’s tomb reported that the work is progressing systematically.

Fr Peter Moudie said the committee signed the first part of the contract for plastering, wiring and fixing the ceiling board inside the church, Anisa Radio reported.

He was optimistic that the renovation of the inside part of the church and covering of the Bishop’s tomb would complete in the next two weeks.

Fr Moudie said they are still processing the marble to cover the outside part of the tomb at the cost of 1,100 US Dollars from Kampala, Uganda.

He explained that St Mary, Yabua, Rimenze parishes and some MPs brought their contributions while others are struggling to collect theirs in one place before handing over to the finance committee.

The Parish Priest urged the persons assigned to collect money from different groups to hand part of the contributions within this week.

The organizing committee gave 40 days for contributions, renovations and building of shrine in remembrance of Bishop Joseph Gasi Abangite who passed away on September 13.

In another news development, St Mary Parish Priest invited all Christians to celebrate the feast of St Daniel Comboni on Friday.
