Wau Mayor attributed rampant robberies increase in Wau Municipality amidst police efforts to robbers changed of their tactics where now the target shops in residential areas.
 
Arkangelo Anyar Anyar said town robbers poured to break shops in residential areas due to night police patrols at the market making control difficult, Voice of Hope reported.
 
Western Bahr El Ghazal Trade Union Chairperson Charles Wol said they met Wau Municipal authorities and agreed that all business owners contribute 50 South Sudanese Pounds per shop to help police in minimizing night robberies.
 
He called for a stationary police force at all market areas especially during night hours separate from the patrol force.
 
Mr Wol said Municipal authorities needed more efforts to protect property of business people in all markets squares and residencies.
 
More than ten shops within Wau town were looted in the past two weeks with several homes in the residential areas.
