The caretaker GoSS minister for Roads said the modernization works at Juba International Airport stopped due to lack of funds.
Minister Anthony Makana told SCR News that works at airport should resume before the end of the year.Mr. Makana announced that the runway would be extended and fitted with lights to allow night landings.
The terminals would also ne modernised and new ones built.
Mr. Makana said 12 new air traffic controllers were being trained and mobile antennas would be removed from runway approach paths.
He added that the authorities were cleaning rubbish around the airport to avoid attracting birds that pose danger to landings and takeoffs.
Mr Makana promised to have Juba’s roads finished before the years sees its end.
