UNMISS Chief says over 10,000 peacekeepers already in South Sudan

United Nations Mission in South Sudan or UNMISS Chief announced that ten thousand five hundred military peace keepers are on the ground in the young to to implement the new mandate.
 
Ellen Margrethe Loej said the peace keepers ranks were shored up by the arrival of new battalions from Ghana, Rwanda and Ethiopia since the beginning of 2014.
 
She called on cooperation and understanding of security forces in the country, including government forces and SPLM/A in opposition to facilitate movement of the UN’s troops.
 
Ms Loej said the national government and security forces are responsible for the protection of civilians.
 
The UNMISS chief called on the warring parties to bring peace to South Sudan.
