UNICEF, WFP say they assisted over 500,000 South Sudanese

United Nations Children Fund or UNICEF and United Nations World Food Programme or WFP said they delivered lifesaving supplies to most remote and conflict-hit regions, reaching over five hundred thousand victims.
 
In a statement CRN obtained, the agencies said they vaccinated 100 thousand children against measles and 83 thousand against polio.
 
It added that more than two thousand six hundred severely malnourished children and 62 thousand people accessed safe water and 23 thousand got hygiene supplies.
 
The statement said WFP delivered food assistance and nutrition supplements by airdrops and lifts.
 
The agencies provided nutritional information, screening and treatment.
 
The UN agencies cited bad weather and insecurity as a constant challenge, affecting their mission.
