United Nations or UN agencies and non-governmental organizations or NGOs are launching 2015 aid operation plan in South Sudan at the beginning of October.
In a statement CRN obtained, the planning is to take place in close collaboration with South Sudanese institutions and authorities at local, state and national levels to help inform the aid agencies’ response to the ongoing crisis.
UN Humanitarian Coordinator Toby Lanzer was quoted as saying ‘South Sudan is home to one of the world’s largest aid operations” and that the enormous needs seen today would persist into 2015.
He added that aid agencies look forward to working closely with national and local authorities, civil society organizations and conflict-affected people to ensure aid operation is tailored to meet the most acute needs on the ground.
Mr Lanzer said consultation is key to get the right response in the crisis’ magnitude.
The Humanitarian Coordinator added that agencies would ensure South Sudanese perspectives are included in every stage of the planning for 2015.
