Moyo District’s LC5 arrested in Uganda

Kajo-Keji County Senior Information Inspector said Ugandan and South Sudan governments arrested 18 committee members of Moyo District’s including the Local Council Chairman or LC5 for carrying out census on the disputed area.
 
Beden Elikana Kenyi said the arrest after South Sudan Police Inspector General and his Ugandan counterpart carried out a primary investigation into Kajo-Keji County of South Sudan and Moyo District of Uganda’s conflict.
 
He added that the investigation committee blamed the LC5 and the enumeration team for carrying out such activities in the area, saying Ugandan authority would deal with him according to their Constitution.
 
He added that the governments blamed Kajo-Keji authorities for arresting the LC5, confirming killing of a Ma’di person in the county during the crisis.
 
Mr Elikana said the county administration arrested the LC5, fearing that Sunyu community would mistreat them.
 
Information Inspector disclosed the two Police Inspectors agreed to form a committee to investigate on the killing of a Ma’di person in Kajo-Keji to face the law.
