Western Equatoria Acting Governor on Wednesday strongly condemned the shooting of American force vehicle in Nzara County on a mission to hunt down the Lord’s Resistance Army or LRA and its leader Joseph Kony.
Gibson Bullen Wande disclosed that unknown gunmen opened fire on the American force vehicle at Namaiku village in Nzara, injuring one soldier on Tuesday, Anisa Radio reported.
He urged all local authorities to ensure that their people do not take laws into their hands in case of something suspicious, but report it to state authorities for action.
Mr Wande advised Western Equatoria communities to behave responsibly.
The Acting Governor called on the American and other foreign forces in the state to remain calm, saying the government is deeply regretted such unlawful behaviour.
He reassured that the state government deployed security teams to the site to investigate the incident.
