National Legislative Assembly Information and Communication Committee Chairperson on Tuesday assured journalists of his confidence that Media Acts were not tempered with at the Office of the President.

Thomas Wani Kundu based on his confidence on parliamentary tradition and constitutional practice as the only legal amending body.

He added that there would be no point of the presidency inserting or extracting other provisions since the legislature absorbed his observations and recommendations before passing it for signature for the second time.

The Information Committee Chairperson also assured journalists that security bill now in the Augus House would not contradict media laws as it would only safeguard national security and not be harmful to journalists.

He argued that with distinct provisions for journalists and security agents, there would be no need for encroachment to conflict journalists and security organs.

The Information Committee Chairperson told journalists that the legislature would intervene, should it realize alterations in the Media Acts.
