Yei River County on Monday celebrated the International Democracy Day under the theme: ‘Engaging young people on democracy’.
County Commissioner Bidali Cosmas Wori described that day as important because it provides interactive debate for citizens to voice their pressing issues, Easter Radio reported.
He stressed the need for leaders to be present in such occasions for smooth running of administrations.
The Commissioner assured people of the Local Government’s commitment to create interactive forums to help them have a democratic nation in the future.
Mayor Santo Paul Lasuba urged citizens to stay united in peace, love and respect for one another.
He encouraged citizens to cooperate in cleaning the town, homes and work places.
