Rumbek National Secondary School candidates are demanding to sit for the Sudan Secondary School certificate exams.
Students’ representative Rebecca Athen told journalists after meeting state Education Minister that South Sudan Certificate was not recognized worldwide because students who sat early were not accepted in the public universities, Good News radio reported.
Another student representative Akol Paul said they attended lessons late and cannot sit for South Sudan Exams, but ready to sit for Sudan certificate exams.
Minister Dut Makoi said the students were prepared to sit for South Sudan, but that Higher Education undersecretary in Juba told her that students can write their names for consideration to sit for Sudan certificate exams.
Rumbek National Secondary Deputy Director for Administration Manjur Roman Ramadan said teachers were ready to teach Sudan syllabus after they taught South Sudan curriculum.
