Eastern Equatoria Health minister was shocked to learn that toilets at the government health facility were out of order for the last year.
Felix Makucha was confronted with the shocking evidence while visiting Torit Civil Hospital to share ideas with the health officials and know about the functionality of the health system.The minister wondered how an institution that keeps hundreds of patients would operate without toilet facilities.
Mr. Makucha says the hospital could be closed down due to the lack of toilets.
He added that the toilets would be first structure to be prepared during the renovation of the hospital.
Dr. Lenny Paul Loromo, who told the minister about the lack of toilet facilities in the hospital, said patients squatted anywhere in the hospital compound to ease themselves.
Dr. Lomor added that officials could not stop the practice as there was no alternative.
