Church, government officials to witness Bishop Gasi’s burial in Yambio

Sudan Catholic Bishops’ Conference or SCBC Secretary-General said Church and national government officials are leaving Juba on Tuesday morning to Yambio Diocese in Western Equatoria State to attend the laying to rest of Emeritus Bishop Joseph Gasi Abangite in the evening.
 
Fr Jacob Odwa told CRN on Monday in Juba that Yei Bishop Erkulano Lodu Tombe would lead the Catholic Church delegation.
 
The Secretary-General said Cardinal Gabriel Zubeir Wako is sending his Vicar General Fr Matthew Remijo and Wau Bishop Rudolf Deng Majak is also sending his top priest to join them.
 
Fr Odwa said Presidential Advisor on religious Affairs Fr Mark Lote’de Lochapi would lead the government’s delegation.
 
The late Emeritus Bishop of Tombura-Yambio Diocese Joseph Gasi Abangite was among the first five indigenous Catholic Bishops of Sudan who initiated the Sudan Catholic Bishops’ Conference in 1975.
