Torit Catholic Apostolic Administrator paid his last respect to Emeritus Bishop Joseph Gasi Abangite of Tombura-Yambio Diocese who died on Saturday.
Monsignor Thomas Oliha on Sunday described the death of Bishop Gasi Abangite as ‘sad news’, Emmanuel Radio reported.
He recalled that Bishop Gasi was among the first five indigenous Catholic Bishops of Sudan who initiated the Sudan Catholic Bishops’ Conference in 1975.
The Apostolic Administrator urged Christians, despite the sad news to celebrate the life of Bishop Gasi with deep faith, courage, dedication and commitment.
Monsignor Oliha urged Christians of Torit and Tombura-Yambio Catholic Dioceses to maintain strong faith like the one of the late Emeritus Bishop.
He urged Christians in the entire country to emulate Bishop Gasi who kept strong faith in times of temptation.
Monsignor Thomas Oliha joined other religious leaders and Christians in South Sudan to pay last respect to the late Bishop Joseph Gasi Abangite.
