Judges from the ten states in the South are undergoing ten-week training on the new laws of Southern Sudan.
The training is supported by the International Development Law organization (IDLO) in collaboration with the GoSS ministry of Legal Affairs and Constitutional Development.
Lynn Sferrazza, IDLO field programme manager, told SCR News that the 30 judges were being trained on county and high court procedure laws of Southern Sudan.
Ms. Sferrazza added that the training was requested by the Judiciary of Southern Sudan and covers laws passed since 2007.
The Judiciary of Southern Sudan capacity building programme is also supported by the government of Netherlands and the European Union through IDLO.
This is the second training organized for judges. The first took place from January to April 2010 with 25 judges in attendance.
