A group is using the 2010 World Football Cup to promote awareness on HIV and AIDS in Lakes State.
Ms. Frauke is part of the team coordinating the Healing of the Healers programme in the Catholic Diocese of Rumbek. She told Good News Radio that the group put up a giant screen near the Cathedral Church for the public to follow the games of the football championship.Ms. Frauke said the event is used to pass messages on AIDS and everybody was welcomed to participate with dramas and story telling and even cleaning.
She called upon the public to be disciplined and responsible, adding that alcohol was forbidden at the site.
Ms. Frauke further said that the viewing of the World Cup matches was open to the public, adding that before the matches and during the halftime break, messages on prevention and treatment of HIV and AIDS will be shown.
Other topics covered in the one-month football competition under the slogan Red Card to HIV and AIDS include supporting the immune system through nutrition, lifestyle and natural healing, behaviour change, domestic violence and sexual harassment among other subjects.
