Médecins Sans Frontières or MSF also known as Doctors without Borders is scaling down its cholera operations after treating 3,300 cases and realizing decline in the outbreak.
In a statement issued on Thursday MSF said it would redirect resources towards other unmet health needs in the country.
MSF’s Head of mission in South Sudan Brian Moller says the recent decline in the number of new cases of cholera suggests that the outbreak is now under control.
He added that MSF would remain vigilant although the epidemic seems under control.
The statement said MSF worked with South Sudan authorities and other partners to improve people’s access to safe drinking water and train health staff in dealing with the outbreak.
The Head of mission said cholera outbreak was exacerbated by unsanitary and overcrowded conditions in IDPs camps.
