South Sudan Development Organization in conjunction with Yei Town Block on Friday launched general garbage collection in the municipality.
The Organization Program Director Steven Luga Wani said the campaign was to improve hygiene and the environment of the municipality, Easter Radio reported.
He said they hired six lorries to run the launch starting at Dar el Salam to the garbage dumped at the other side, saying it was a collective responsibility not only their organization or government to maintain hygiene.
Yei Town Block Health and Environment Administrator Samuel Taligi called on citizens to cooperate to ease the campaign.
He said the break down of the vehicle seven months ago was a major challenge that increased the waste disposal in the town.
The leaders made the remarks while launching garbage collection in Yei Town Block.
