Political leaders in Kapoeta East County opposed the creation of Jie County in Greater Pibor Administrative Area.
County Commissioner Titus Lokwachuma said David Yau Yau’s comment that ‘Jie should be patient to get a county’ displeased him, saying Jie are internally displaced persons or IDPs from Eastern Equatoria who only deserve services from Pibor, not a county, Emmanuel Radio reported.
He said Pibor Administrative Area should not encroach into the territory of Eastern Equatoria state.
Jie area MP in Eastern Equatoria Assembly Benjamin Lopeyok said David Yau Yau should not take the advantage of the Jie IDPs who are in Pibor like any other IDPs in the country only need services.
The MP argued that Eastern Equatoria would be the one to grant Jie community a county after census if their population meets the required figure.
David Yau Yau was quoted last Thursday urging the Jie community to be patient if they want their county.
