Thousands of goats died in Alubi area of Amdurdu Administrative Unit in Heiban County of Nuba Mountains.
Alubi chiefs’ representative Hassan Hamed Al Marat said 1500 goats suffered cough and diarrhoea before dying, Voice of Peace reported.
He said they discovered decomposed lungs and kidneys after skinning the dead goats.
Khamis Hassan Ismail, a cattle keeper appealed to communities to help inject the animals because many of them are dying.
He added that cows are also getting infected and a number of them died, lamenting that residents are looking for animal drugs in markets at any price, but not available.
It is the first time in history to have such large number of livestock dying in Alubi.
