Representatives of the universities of south Sudan, GoSS Ministry of Education, AIDS Commission and UNESCO are holding a three-day consultative meeting to develop a HIV and AIDS curriculum for the universities in the region.
Talking to SCR News, UNESCO HIV and AIDS consultant Richard Odindo said the document would guide universities to compile information to protect the students from getting infected with HIV.Mr. Odinda confirmed that the HIV pandemic affected more the youth and thus the need to include HIV and AIDS in the universities’ programmes.
The meeting tackled the challenges lecturers might face while delivering teachings on HIV and AIDS.
Mr. Odindo added that training programmes would be offered to particular lecturers in charge of the subject.
The whole project should take six months to be put into place.
