Yei Catholic Diocese Vicar-General on Friday encouraged journalists never to be afraid, but remain professional in facing threats and challenges of the media industry.

Fr Zachariah Angutuwa Sebit told CRN that the Catholic Radio Network system normally employs professionals and that media practitioners should stick to their ethics without recoiling due to threats.

He added that media should remain transparent and systematic as expected to fulfill the needs of South Sudan.

Fr Angutuwa expressed sadness over the closure of Bakhita Radio, saying in Yei they use the Catholic Radio Station for transmitting Sunday prayer services.

He hoped that Bakhita Radio management and the National Security Service resolve the closure for Archbishop Paolino Lukudu Loro to speak to Christians through the medium on Sunday.

It is exactly one week today since Bakhita Radio was closed last Saturday by the National Security Service in Juba.
