Yei County Commissioner denied allegations that he ordered the arrest of five supports of an independent candidate who lost the race for Central Equatoria Governor.
On Monday, Alfred Ladu Gore told the press in Juba that five of his supporters were arrested on Sunday and Monday morning in Yei at the orders of the commissioner.Commissioner David Lokonga Moses told Easter Radio this afternoon over the telephone from Juba that the allegations made by Gore were baseless and carried no meaning.
Mr Lokonga said he did not know about any arrests and the allegations were all rumours.
He added that knew about the arrests of suspected who were accused of a murder last year in Kirigba, one of the villages in Yei County.
Mr Lokonga said during the political campaings there were no reports of intimidation and arrest of supports of candidates and asked why they should do it after the elections were over.
