Minister urges students to apply for scholarships

Western Equatoria Minister of Education called on secondary school leavers to apply for the scholarships offered by Egypt, Pakistan and Morocco.
 
Minister Pia Philip Michael said Egyptian government offered undergraduate chances for South Sudanese in many fields of studies and that the government of Pakistan also offered one scholarship for medicine student, Anisa Radio reported.
 
He explained that in the previous years, 70 students applied in Western Equatoria for the national intake to public universities after 500 admission forms were sent to the state.
 
The minister revealed that resources were affecting the inter-state school competition due to take place in Yambio.
 
He said the National Education Ministry would soon communicate the date for kicking off and that they would speed up renovations of schools to accommodate students.
 
The minister announced that arrangements were in the pipeline for the best performing students to participate in the regional East African games in Tanzania.
