South Sudan political parties’ delegation to Addis Ababa peace talks led by Dr Lam Akol Ajawin appealed to Intergovernmental Authority on Development or IGAD and United Nations Mission in South Sudan or UNMISS to speed up the deployment of Protection Force to provide security for the miserable civil population in the country.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, Dr Akol said the warring parties must respect the agreements they signed and stop fighting to give peace a chance.
He reminded the conflicting parties to understand that none of them would score a military-victory, adding that they must internalize the fact that negotiation is the only route to peace.
The parties lamented that South Sudan born with a lot of promise and excitement three years ago now tops the fragile states of the world, saying it is shaming them as the country’s elites.
Dr Akol condemned the assassination attempt of civil society organisations delegation leader Deng Athuai to the talks, now in hospital bed in Juba.
He called for a speedy investigation and justice.
