The Committee for National Healing, Peace and Reconciliation welcomed recommendations of the Sudd Institute’s new paper entitled ‘South Sudan’s Crisis: Its Drivers, Key Players and Post-conflict Prospects’ issued on Sunday.

The Committee also welcomed recommendation on accountability and justice as secondary in consolidating peace and reconciliation efforts in the long-term.

It said the Institute recommended first establishing the kind of reconciliation South Sudanese want inspired by experiences of other countries.

The Committee disclosed a plan to conduct two-year consultation process by training hundreds of peace mobilisers to go to the village level to consult the grassroots and to raise awareness about the process.

It added that it would conduct consultation conferences in counties and then in every state.

The committee revealed that the consultations would concurrently take place at the national level with political parties, the opposition, the organised forces, religious leaders, civil society, women, youth, academics, media and business community.
