AMECEA plenary focuses on new evangelization

Torit Catholic Diocese participant to Association Member of Episcopal Conference for Eastern Africa or AMECEA 18th plenary in Lilongwe, Malawi said the meeting focused on new evangelization.
 
Margaret Idwa told Emmanuel Radio upon her arrival that the conference centred on new evangelization through true conversion and witness to Christian faith.
 
She explained that the plenary came out with several recommendations including formation of strong Christian communities in the AMECEA region and catechesis and formation of seminarians.
 
Ms Idwa said the meeting emphasised on good family life in order to produce a quality and respectable priests in the society.
 
The AMECEA Plenary session brought together Bishops and lay representatives of nine member countries: South Sudan, Sudan, Ethiopia, Eritrea, Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Djibouti and Somalia.
 
Sudan Catholic Bishops’ Conference delegation headed by Cardinal Gabriel Zubeir Wako included Bishops Santo Loku Pio of Juba Archdiocese, Edwardo Hiiboro of Tombura-Yambio and Michael Didi of El Obied.
 
Apostolic Administrators of Torit Monsignor Thomas Oliha, John Mathiang of Rumbek and Roko Taban of Malakal and four lay people also attended AMECEA 18th plenary.
