The Norwegian Government took over the Yei National Health Training Institute that was handed over to GoSS ministry of health in January.

Mr. Damain Lemeri is the administrator of the health institution. He told Easter Radio this afternoon that Norwegian People’s Aid (NPA) took over the running of the institution from the beginning of this month after the administration experienced problems to feed students and pay staff.

NPA took full charge of the health training institute while GoSS ministry of Health would support some areas of funding.

Mr. Lemeri said NPA funded the institution from 1995 up to 2009 and in 2010 handed it to the ministry of health.

He added that the school had 130 students from different parts of the country.

The institution was opened 1995 in Chukudum, in Eastern Equatoria, to train health personnel and later on moved to Yei due to insecurity.
