Government spokesperson said the President of the Republic laid a foundation stone for building the Currency Centre in Rumbek, Lakes State to produce coins because ‘life became expensive in the country due to lack of coins’.

Michael Makuei Lueth said coins could not be produced outside the country because they are heavy and expensive to transport into the country.

The Minister added that the Centre would be used for storing money because there is no strong room in Juba and other towns.

The spokesperson said the Centre constructed by a Chinese company would be operational within one and half years.
