At least one person was killed yesterday in an attack believed to be carried out by Ugandan rebels close to Tambura, in Western Equatoria State.

Local sources told SCR News that Emmanuel Mborinaani was killed yesterday evening by the Lord’s Resistance Army at Baazande, a village a few kilometres away from Tambura.

A number of people were also abducted during the attack.

The same source said that people who live around Tombura took refuge in town and were sleeping under mango trees or in the bush.

Insecurity led Eyat, a company working on the Tambura road, to evacuate its workers.

Farming is already dead in the area due to LRA attacks.

Locals question what thousands of SPLA soldiers were doing rooming around Tambura while the LRA attacked at will just a few kilometres away.
