Central Equatoria Governor refuted statement of the President of the Republic on July 9 that state through ”kokora” chased Eastern and Western Equatorians away.
Clement Wani Kongasaid President Salva Kiir was misinformed about Equatoria saying sons and daughters from Eastern and Western Equatoria are still living in Central Equatoria as brothers and sisters and nothing is dividing them, Bakhita Radio reported.
He described the statement of the president as ”false” intended to create division.
The Governor said the martyrs killed in 1992 in Juba were not only Equatorians, but citizens from all part of South Sudan.
Central Equatoria state legislative speaker Naphtale Hassan pointed out that the call for federalism is not ”Kokora” saying federal governance is not total independence from the central government.
He said the idea of federalism need to be sold to South Sudanese to choose the type of the governance they want.
Mr Hassan urged the national government to give citizens an opportunity to continue debating freely.
