Western Bahr El Ghazal on Tuesday launched a third fistula operation campaign at Wau Teaching Hospital targeting hundred patients.
Fistula surgeon Saeed Ahmed said the process is expected to last for a months and operated women would recover after two months, Voice of Hope reported.
Dr Ahmed explained that the operation is handling three categories of patients with new cases, some old not operated and those operated but did not follow instructions.
He predicted successful operation as patients’ general health conditions are better.
A patient who suffered fistula since 2003 said she had three births under difficulties resulted into fistula.
She testified that she had no knowledge on the repair since she was in the rural area.
The third fistula campaign in Western Bahr El Ghazal which target patients all over South Sudan is supported by UNFPA.
