Security situation deteriorated in Western Equatoria and citizens are living in fear, following intensified attacks by Ugandan rebels.
Governor Joseph Bangasi Bakosoro said the activities of the Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA) in the state intensified over the past two months.Mr. Bakosoro added that the rebels abducted twelve people on Saturday and they escaped.
He added that his team would discuss with the SPLM leadership the way forward before the situation affects preparations for the referendum.
Mr. Bakosoro said the Arrow Boys, a group of young people who took up arms in a bid to protect civilians, were ill-equipped to confront the LRA.
