Schools in Torit town of Eastern Equatoria State temporally closed down for a period of two weeks to control the spread of cholera.
State Health Minister Margret Itto currently acting as Education Minister directed the closure, Emmanuel Radio reported.
The move follows high records of cholera infection among youths admitted to Torit State Hospital.
Dr Itto added that closure of schools regulates the rate of spreading cholera germs among learners.
The minister urges health promoters to target children at homes and offer awareness and training for teachers on cholera cases management.
Dr Itto revealed a plan to train cholera task force personnel on management of cholera related funerals.
