The President of the Republic warned of an “explosive” situation between north and south Sudan if southerners choose separation in the upcoming referendum.
President Omar Hassan al-Bashir told NCP members on Saturday that parts of the border could be explosive like in the case of Ethiopia and Eritrea, or India and Pakistan.Mr. al-Bashir noted that the NCP had no choice but to work with the SPLM for the sake of the country’s unity.
He mentioned that his government would accept in good faith whatever choice Southerners made.
