EE Health Minister calls for cholera prevention

Eastern Equatoria Health Minister encouraged citizens to ensure proper human waste disposal to control cholera spread in the state as it is only prevented through proper hygiene and sanitation standard.
 
Margaret Itto appealed to citizens to have pit latrines as a way of fighting cholera infection, Emmanuel Radio reported.
 
The Minister advised the public to stop buying and eating cold food because it is easily contaminated.
 
Dr Itto revealed a plan to enforce law and order and deploy taskforce along Kineti River to monitor and ensure proper chlorination of water by vendors before taking to customers.
 
The minister urged the public to take a collective responsibility by reporting to the Hospital on time for medical attention as soon as they experience cholera cases.
 
Eastern Equatoria State registered more than 140 cholera cases with five deaths.
