Wau Catholic Diocesan Justice and Peace Program Coordinator on Friday advised President Kiir’s cabinet and top rivals to think of human life, not positions they intend to hold.
Natalina Andrea told CRN that government and opposition leaders should think of human blood and the terrible suffering of women and children all over the country, not seats of power.
She wondered whether the leaders would survive on seats as blood and tears of citizens, orphans or widows continue to flow in their command and watch.
Ms Andrea said citizens’ priority now is peace and access to humanitarian aid especially for those in dire need.
She cited the suffering of Internally Displaced Persons or IDPs in Wau who urgently need shelter at this critical rainy season.
Ms Andrea added that after peace and humanitarian assistance, the masses would need reconciliation for lasting peace and justice in the country.
The Coordinator said they achieved transformation of the SPLA Division Five in Wau into peace time army with a reasonable harvest of chaplains among them who pray and interact with civilians freely.
She added that the Program trained Yambio citizens to handle land matters and Upper Nile State citizens to manage oil, but the ongoing war destroyed all efforts.
Ms Andrea advised the church to continue its efforts for justice and peace in South Sudan.
