Tombura-Yambio Catholic Diocese in two-day workshop trained Bakiwiri farmer groups on post harvest and seeds management.
Diocesan Development Director James Mabu appreciated the farmers for active participation and positive respond to the training, urging them to utilise the knowledge they acquired and disseminate it to others, Anisa Radio reported.
He thanked the Department of Sustainable Livelihood for passing on the message and skills to farmers.
Bakiwiri farmers’ representatives Alfred Barakat Manga said during the two-day training, they learnt how to keep seeds, weed crops and manage storage.
He thanked the Catholic Diocese for equipping local farmers in order to boost production in the state.
Mr Barakat said this year Bakiwiri farmers group planted six hundred acres of pineapples, oranges, groundnuts and cassava.
Diocesan Production Officer Tartizio Wandu Bimo said next week they are expected to travel to Nzara to train farmers in Ezo, Ibba and Maridi Counties.
