Women MPs from different states in south Sudan decried the low rate of girl child education in the region.

UNICEF head of education, Simon Mphisa, said only seven percent of the enrolled girls finish school in south Sudan.

Talking to SCR news, the MPs said the rate of child drop puts is high and there are no laws disciplining officials who impregnate girl child education.

Another lawmaker raised cultural issues that valued girls in terms of dowries.

The women leaders encouraged mothers to take their children to school to increase the number of female literates and of women in politics.

The women MPs called on local leaders to play a role in eradicating cultural-related factors that contributed highly to the low rate of girl child education.
