The Caritas International workshop for Emergency Preparedness ended today giving priority to the training of human resources ahead of the referendum.
Nyiker Okoth Awin is the Sudan Catholic Bishops’ Conference national executive Secretary of Sudan Aid, the Sudanese branch of Caritas International.Mr. Okoth told SCR News that the workshop opted to train human resources to handle any emergency crisis instead of focusing on structures.
He said the training would be carried at a diocesan level by Sudan Aid.
Mr. Okoth explained that the Church was preparing for any type of emergency and set targets and a dateline to start its training activities.
The workshop drew some 60 participants from both the local and international staff of Caritas International, Sudan Aid and Catholic Relief Service.
