Citizen for Peace and Justice or CPJ, a coalition of South Sudanese civil society organizations formed in January 2014, called for inclusion of all sectors of South Sudanese society in the peace process.
CPJ Secretary David K Deng in a letter to Intergovernmental Authority on Development or IGAD dated June 10, said for sustainable peace to be achieved, the peace talks should address fundamental governance problems that South Sudan was struggling with since 2005.
He said CPJ needs transitional governance arrangements, constitutional reforms, truth, justice and reconciliation; security sector reform; economic reform and humanitarian support addressed in the process.
Mr Deng said CPJ was committed to work for the resolution of the conflict in South Sudan and support all stakeholders in the process.
He urged the IGAD to reconsider its decision and to sit with CPJ and other independent civil society coalitions and networks to find out how to remedy the situation in a manner that is agreeable to all concerned parties.
