Khartoum Archdiocese lays Fr John Dingi to rest

Fr John Dingi Martino Doi who died after short illness last Friday was laid down to final rest at St Francis’ cemetery in Khartoum, Sudan.
 
Khartoum Catholic Archdiocese Vicar Genera Fr Matthew said the burial followed a funeral hymn mass at Saints’ Peter and Paul Parish.
 
The late Father was born on January 2 1945 at Khor Lulu near Bussere in Wau where he received his primary and intermediate education as a minor seminarian.
 
He later attended philosophical and theological studies at Kit, Lachor in Gulu and Ggaba in Kampala, Uganda.
 
Late Archbishop Ireneo Wien Dud ordained Fr Dingi on March 19, 1972 in Wau Catholic Diocese and ascended to be an assistant Parish Priest of Tonj in 1972, Parish Priest of Raja in 1975 and a Rector of St Anthony Minor Seminary in 1976.
 
The late Fr Dingi attended scripture course at the Biblical Institute in Rome and in 1978 appointed a Vicar General of Wau and Parish Priest of Raja in1983.
 
In 1990, he worked as assistant Parish Priest of St Stephen Hajj Yousif in Khartoum Archdiocese.
 
The late Father served as a Secretary General of the Sudan Catholic Bishops’ Conference in1995 and became a Rector of St Paul National Major Seminary Theology section in 2003.
 
He also served as a Parish Priest of St Matthew’s Cathedral and in 2001 appointed teacher of Scriptures in St Paul’s National Major Seminary Theology section.
