An analyst denied allegations that South Sudan would become a failed state if it separated from the North and became an independent state.

John Ashworth told SCR News that he could not believe that the south would become a failed state if it chose independence in the 2011 referendum.

Mr. Ashworth said the south was already a viable region and would continue to be viable through the help of its East African neighbours.

Mr. Ashworth revealed that trouble might rise only if the referendum would not be free and fair.

Mr. Ashworth affirmed that many civilians were expected to move between the north and south ahead of the referendum.

He added that aid agencies were preparing for any emergency.

Mr. Ashworth concluded that the situation would remain normal if unity or secession would be peaceful.
