Yei River County Law Society on Thursday urged stakeholders: literate people, church and community based organizations to educate and protect the exploitation of citizens with the available laws.
Legal Aide Officer Data John Losukwa said citizens resources were exploited because investors come from the top government with already signed land leased document, Easter Radio reported.
Mr John called on the stakeholders to stand with the community to stop some politicians who want to satisfy their interests by taking citizens’ advantage.
The Legal Aide Officer said some investors come with their lawyers and observed the ignorance of the community to sign agreements that could benefit one side.
He cited some parts in Jonglei, Eastern, Western and Central Equatoria states where the lands were leased to investors without the knowledge of communities.
Mr John also urged the stakeholders to obtain copies of national and state laws to speed up the education of the public to curb the monopoly of self-interest politicians.
He stressed on the need to help communities on land or other lease negotiations with investors.
The Legal Aide Officer was speaking during a meeting on the Constituency Development Funds in Yei.
